Efficiency; It expresses the ratio of the amount of particles retained to the total amount of particles. High efficiency filter is the one that can hold low micron particles in the desired life. In new generation engines, the ratio expected from the efficiency performance of the air filter is 99.50% and above.
Pressure Difference
Pressure Difference can also be expressed as resistance to flow. If the air filter starts to show high resistance to flow at the very first moment or starts to show high resistance early during use (early clogging), it will prevent the amount of air that the engine tries to suck. The filtering material, which must be of high quality, must be both highly efficient and have a high dust holding capacity without creating a high pressure difference in its expected life.
Resistance to Moisture and Temperature Change
Depending on the ambient conditions, filters are exposed to water, humidity, variable temperature conditions (e.g.: rainy weather, engine and ambient temperatures, etc.). The materials used in the filter must withstand these conditions and must not lose their function.
Filter Life
Shelf Life : It has a minimum shelf life of 5 years in its packaging in a moisture-free environment, at a temperature range of -10 +40 C, without exposure to water and direct sunlight.
Lifetime : During air filtration, the filter retains contaminants in the sucked air. This leads to clogging of the filter over time. Therefore, the maintenance and replacement period specified by the vehicle manufacturers should be followed for the replacement of the filters. If the end-of-life, filled and clogged filter is not replaced, it will cause the engine not to draw enough air.
Air filtration system and filtering element; It is designed according to the engine to be installed, the installation location, the environment in which the vehicle will operate, the maintenance period and other conditions.
Different designs are applied for automobiles, light commercial vehicles, public transport vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles; different designs are applied for vehicles working in very dusty environments such as agricultural sector, excavation and construction sites; different designs are applied for air, sea and railway vehicles.
Prolonged operation in excessively dusty environments, prolonged exposure to sooty exhaust fumes and water absorption into the filter lead to premature clogging of the filter, i.e. premature end of life.
