Pressure is high in the oil filtration system, sealing in the filters is very important. There may be more than one sealing element in the filter. The sealing elements used must be of appropriate quality, resistant to extreme cold and extreme hot weather, the filter must be produced with precision moulds in technological processes and offered for sale after 100% testing with test equipment.
Efficiency
Efficiency is the ability of the filter used in the system to filter without creating resistance and to hold 99.80% dirt in the expected life.
Resistance to Pressure, Variable Temperature and Vibration
As long as the engine is running, oil filters are exposed to pressure, variable temperature and vibration conditions. During the replacement life of the filter, it must fulfil its duty precisely without deforming under these conditions.
By-pass Circuit
In case oil viscosity increases in extreme cold temperatures and oil cannot pass through the filter filled with contamination, by-pass circuits on the filter or system are opened to allow oil passage. If the by-pass circuit is designed to be in the filter, this circuit must open at the desired pressure difference and perform its duty. Otherwise, the system remains without oil and causes the engine parts to malfunction to be replaced.
Resistance to External Corrosion
In spin-on filters made of sheet metal, the outside of the filter, both on the shelf and on the engine, is exposed to direct ambient effects such as moisture, water, dirt, salt water (salting of snowy roads). Under these conditions, the filter is subject to corrosion (rust).
Filter Life
Shelf Life : It has a minimum shelf life of 5 years in its packaging in a moisture-free environment, in a temperature range of -10 +40 C, without exposure to water and direct sunlight.
Lifetime: During net filtration, the filter retains impurities. This leads to clogging of the filter over time. Therefore, the maintenance and replacement period specified by the vehicle manufacturers should be followed for the replacement of the filters. If the end-of-life, full and clogged filter is not replaced, dirty oil starts to circulate in the system through the by-pass system, which leads to the above-mentioned negativities.
The pressure in the oil filtration system is high, the tightness in the filters is very important.
